The jakarta : President Joko Widodo Decides to Move Indonesian Capital Outside of Java
Minister of National Development Planning (PPN / Head of Bappenas) Bambang Brodjonegoro said that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) decided to move the capital city of Indonesia outside Java.
Bambang said, the results of the Bappenas study concluded that there were three criteria for moving the capital city. First, stay in DKI Jakarta by building special government offices around Monas. Second, move the capital to the suburbs of Jakarta with a radius of about 60 km. Third, move outside Java.
"In the meeting, it was decided, the president chose the third alternative, which was to move the capital out of Java. This is perhaps one of the important decisions that were born today, and of course it will continue with the next ratas which will talk more technically, talk about design, and talk about the master plan from the city itself, "Bambang said at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Monday (29/4) / 2019).
According to Bambang, the three alternatives have profits and losses. From the first or permanent in DKI Jakarta, the consequence is making the area the center of everything. This has an impact on large-scale urbanization activities.
Second, the transfer to the outskirts of DKI Jakarta has an impact on the Indonesian economy which is only concentrated in Java. Third, moving out of Java, the consequence is that a large cost is needed.
"Then the main requirement is the availability of vast land because in essence is to build a new city and of course there will be a lot of costs, besides the ASNs, they must be willing to move from their position in Jakarta to the new city," he said.
